Q: What are the Newmarket Community Awards?
A: The Newmarket Community Awards celebrate the remarkable contributions of individuals, groups, and businesses to the Newmarket community. The event recognises excellence in areas such as community service, environmental efforts, diversity, youth leadership, and more.

Q: When is the 2026 Newmarket Community Awards ceremony?
A: The 2026 ceremony will take place on Tuesday, 30th June 2026, at The Jockey Club, starting at 6:00 PM.

Q: What is the purpose of the awards?
A: The awards aim to honour and recognize those who make a positive impact in Newmarket through their dedication, innovation, and community spirit.

Nominations

Q: When do nominations open and close?
A: Nominations are currently open, but close on the 24th April 2026.

Q: How can I submit a nomination?
A: Nominations can be submitted through the official event website www.newmarketcommunity.com or via the Newmarket Journal. 

Q: Who can be nominated?
A: Any individual, group, or business that has made a meaningful contribution to the Newmarket community is eligible for nomination.

Q: Can I nominate someone employed in their role? 

A: Yes, although each nomination is viewed individually, we always factor in whether their impact goes above and beyond their employment. 

Q: Can I nominate a politician? 

A: The selection committee reserves the right to reject nominations based on political impact and is apolitical. The committee has representatives from each council, which members can contact directly. 

Q: Are there categories for the awards?
A: Yes, categories may include:

  • Environmental Contributions

  • Diversity and Inclusion

  • Neighbourhood and Community Impact

  • Fundraiser of the Year

  • Volunteer of the Year

  • Inspirational Individual

  • Heritage Contributions

Shortlisted nominees will be assigned to appropriate categories.

Event Details

Q: What is the format of the awards evening?

  • A: 6:00 PM: Arrival

  • 6:30 PM: Awards Ceremony with photographs

  • 8:00 PM: Drinks and canapés celebration

A: Invitations will be sent prior to the event which all details confirmed. 

Q: Will there be media coverage?
A: Yes, the event will be covered by local media, including the Newmarket Journal. Photos and stories will be shared shortly after the event.

Participation and Engagement

Q: How can I support or sponsor the event?
A: Local businesses and individuals are encouraged to sponsor or support the event. Please contact the organizers to learn more about sponsorship opportunities.

Q: How can the community get involved?
A: Community members can:

  • Nominate deserving candidates.
